AAHOA Advocacy Starts Early in the Sunshine State

The association will kick off its 2018 advocacy meetings at the Florida Capital Complex in Tallahassee, Fla., on Jan. 17. Meetings with state lawmakers will be held throughout the day on issues like short-term rentals and tourism funding. A town hall, hosted by Florida Regional Director Bharat Patel, is scheduled for the day prior (Jan. 16). Visit aahoa.com/eventscalendar for more details or to pre-register for both events.

Final Onsite Training for Certification in Hotel Ownership to be Held at #AAHOACON18

Hotel professionals seeking to become certified in hotel ownership will be able to do so at the 2018 AAHOA Convention & Trade Show. The CHO program includes nine modules that are designed to help owners learn how to more effectively operate their hotel businesses. This is the last opportunity for CHO onsite training offered by AAHOA. The program is being redeveloped as an online-only program for 2018. Learn more and register online today.

In the Market
Overall U.S. RevPAR was +8.1 percent for the week ending 12/16/17, per STR. The luxury and upscale were the strongest chain scales at +7.9 percent. Within the upper upscale and luxury class hotels, group was stronger than transient. Several factors (described within the report) contributed to the outsized performance.
