Last week, just two months after IHG announced its new midscale brand, avid hotels, the company broke ground on the brand’s first new-build in Oklahoma City. Champion Hotels, which is owned by long-standing AAHOA member Champ Patel, will operate the four-story, 87-room, Oklahoma City-Quail Springs Hotel. Read more.
Boutique Design has selected the 13th annual Boutique 18, its yearly roster of noteworthy, on-the-rise designers in the hospitality industry. The 2018 honorees will be inducted at a ceremony during the sixth annual BDwest. They will also be profiled in the April edition of Boutique Design magazine.

AAHOA CEO Chip Rogers to Speak at Upcoming ALIS Law

The America’s Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS) Law conference is scheduled to take place Jan. 21-22 in Los Angeles. AAHOA President & CEO Chip Rogers and other high-profile industry speakers and panelists will convene to unpack legal matters of interest to hotel owners and operators. On Jan. 22, Rogers will participate in a panel discussion that will focus on the 2018 midterm elections and the potential impact on the hotel industry. Overall U.S. RevPAR was up 6.8% for the week ending Dec. 9, per STR. Miami helped the overall U.S. numbers with the Art
