AAHOA President and CEO Chip Rogers will address attendees at Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS) Law, the law conference for hotel owners and operators, to be held January 23–24, 2017, in Los Angeles.
More than 50 AAHOA young and aspiring hoteliers will meet next Monday, Oct. 24, at Hilton Worldwide headquarters in McLean, Virginia, for a day of professional development. The event, which reached capacity some weeks ago, will include talks from Hilton executives on the history and future of Hilton, development, architecture and design, and brand management.

Business groups filed a motion late Friday, October 14, asking a federal judge in Texas to immediately vacate the Department of Labor's overtime rule. The regulation, effective December 1, will double (to $47,476) the salary threshold under which virtually all workers are guaranteed time-and-a-half pay whenever they work more than 40 hours in a given week.

Your new favorite store might also be your new favorite hotel. Upscale housewares and decor brand Restoration Hardware has a line of bedding specifically for hotels, which interested properties can purchase in bulk from its website. But the brand wasn't done there: In 2015, it raised even more eyebrows when it announced plans to open a Restoration Hardware-branded 14-room hotel with restaurant in New York City's Meatpacking District neighborhood.

Denver's newest and largest hotel is a visual stunner. The 519-room Westin, an example of Starwood Hotels & Resorts' upper-upscale brand, opened last November and is located in a glass-clad structure shaped like the wings of a bird. It offers guests floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views to the west of the Rocky Mountains.
