The overall current Real Estate Sentiment scores among New Yorkers in the third quarter of 2011 is the lowest it has been in two years. New Yorkers expect the overall real estate market and the value of property to remain virtually unchanged over the next year. Consumers continue to see now as a very poor time to sell, but a good time to buy.

According to MSNBC, President Barack Obama announced on Monday that the government’s Home Affordable Refinance Program will be changed to allow homeowners with little or no equity to refinance no matter how much their home value has dropped below what they still owe.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli released a report last week indicating New York tax collections for the first half of the fiscal year missed projections by $391.9 million.

Late Thursday, the Senate voted to pass an that would restore the FHA and GSE loan limits to the levels prior to September 30. The amendment is included in the Treasury and Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill that passed the Senate. The amendment still has to be passed by the House.
